    <link>https://www.modernanalyst.com/Resources/News/tabid/177/ID/2064/New-Agile-Extension-for-BABOK-Guide-Released-by-IIBA-Agile-Alliance.aspx</link>
    <description>Organizations seek feedback from users of Agile Extension to BABOK&#174; Guide&amp;#160;
&amp;#160;
Toronto, Ont. (November 9, 2011) -- Today, International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) and Agile Alliance announce the newest release of the Agile Extension to A Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK&#174; Guide) 2.0.
&amp;#160;
The latest Agile Extension can be downloaded free at http://iiba.info/AgileExtension. Practitioners can provide feedback at http://iiba.info/AgileFeedback until January 31, 2012. The BABOK&#174; Guide 2.0 offers a common framework to understand and define the practice of business analysis. It is used by over 200,000 practitioners worldwide and is available at www.IIBA.org.
&amp;#160;
IIBA&#174; Chief Business Analyst and EVP Kevin Brennan, CBAP, PMP, says, “This new version of the Agile Extension will help business analysts deliver valuable business knowledge to agile software developers quickly and effectively. The tool contains ideas that will be useful to all business analysts, even if they don’t work in an agile environment.”
&amp;#160;
He adds, “I believe that the agile and business analysis communities have a lot to learn from one another, and this joint effort with the Agile Alliance is a major step in that direction.&quot;&amp;#160;
&amp;#160;
Shane Hastie, MIM, CBAP, Member of the Board of Directors of Agile Alliance, says, “Business analysis is critical for successful agile development.” He adds, “The goal of both our organizations is to support practitioners, build bridges between our communities, and advance the state of practice.”&amp;#160;
&amp;#160;
This new release of the Agile Extension offers information on business analysis in agile lifecycles; the mapping of information back to the BABOK&#174; Guide 2.0; descriptions of over 20 new business analysis techniques useful in an agile environment; and key principles regarding agile business analysis.
&amp;#160;
The Agile Extension has been developed by a global team of volunteers with in-depth experience of both business analysis and agile software development. The tool helps the business analysis community to effectively contribute to agile development efforts while it helps agile software developers make use of business analysis skills and knowledge to deliver better, more valuable products.
&amp;#160;
The Agile Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the concepts of agile software development (www.agilemanifesto.org). <title>IIBA launches new academic institutional memberships</title>
    <link>https://www.modernanalyst.com/Resources/News/tabid/177/ID/2058/IIBA-launches-new-academic-institutional-memberships.aspx</link>
    <description>International Institute of Business Analysis to collaborate with educators to get students job ready&amp;#160;

    New institutional membership offers universities and colleges discounts, opportunity to launch IIBA-approved Academic Certificate in business analysis

Starting in November 2011, International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) will offer institutional membership packages to universities and colleges worldwide.
&amp;#160;
After a post-secondary school purchases the IIBA&#174; Academic Membership, its students, faculty, and staff benefit from discounts on individual memberships, reduced fees for certification programs, and discounts on many other products and services. Please visit www.IIBA.org/AcademicMembership for detailed information about academic memberships.
&amp;#160;
Once a post-secondary school joins IIBA, the institution can host on its Intranet the seminal reference source for business analysts, A Guide to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge&#174; (BABOK&#174; Guide). The school can also buy hard copies at bulk rates.
&amp;#160;
Moreover, IIBA is developing recognition programs, and will collaborate with educators who wish to align their business analysis curricula with performance competencies outlined in the IIBA Business Analysis Competency Model and the BABOK&#174; Guide. These include an academic certificate, available now, and a diploma program currently under development.
&amp;#160;
Chief Operating Officer Dave Bieg, says, “IIBA seeks to work with universities and colleges to help them get their students job ready for a career in business analysis.” IIBA will offer this service free of charge after a school joins the Academic Membership Program.
&amp;#160;
The organization will work with educators to ensure their courses at the graduate or undergraduate level are IIBA-approved. After the syllabus for the course has been reviewed and approved by IIBA, the school can offer the Academic Certificate in Business Analysis.
&amp;#160;
“By earning the IIBA Academic Certificate in Business Analysis, a student will signal to future employers that they have gained the knowledge to perform effectively as an entry level business analyst,” says Mr. Bieg.
&amp;#160;

    <title>New BA certification to be launched by International Institute of Business Analysis</title>
    <link>https://www.modernanalyst.com/Resources/News/tabid/177/ID/1541/New-BA-certification-to-be-launched-by-International-Institute-of-Business-Analysis.aspx</link>
    <description>International Institute of Business Analysis announces fast track to new certification
(Toronto, ON) – Business analysts can now fast track their desire to acquire a professional designation when they obtain the new Certification of Competency in Business Analysis™ (CCBA™).
&amp;#160;International Institute of Business Analysis officially announced the launch of this intermediate certification at its virtual Annual General Meeting in June. Applications will be available later this year, and the first candidates are expected to write the new CCBA™ exam in January 2011.
&amp;#160;Kathleen Barret, president and CEO, says “IIBA&#174; is developing this new certification for professionals who wish to expand their career options sooner and obtain quicker recognition for their ongoing investment in their own professional development.”&amp;#160;
She adds, “The new certification will also benefit organizations that need to signal to their stakeholders that their business analysts have gained significant knowledge of best practices and standards in their field.” The certification process itself also offers employers the opportunity to assess staff competencies and recognize their professional achievement and commitment to excellence.
Candidates can apply for the CCBA™ designation after they have accumulated about two and a half years of business analysis experience within the past seven years. In contrast, an individual must have accumulated five years of relevant work experience within 10 years before he or she can apply to become a Certified Business Analysis Professional™ (CBAP&#174;). Both designations require candidates to make a robust commitment to professional development and to adhere to the code of conduct for business analysts. &amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160; &amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;
All certified business analysts gain proficiency in areas of knowledge outlined in the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge&#174; (BABOK&#174;) Guide. However, professionals with the intermediate CCBA™ certification will be able to apply their skills to smaller scope and less complex tasks than those with the more rigorous CBAP&#174; designation. Details on how to obtain either designation can be reviewed at www.theiiba.org.
